TNI task forces destroy 1,347 cannabis plants at Siminbuk in Pegunungan Bintang
ANTARA reported that military task forces under Joint Regional Defence Command III, together with Pegunungan Bintang regency police, located and destroyed 1,347 cannabis plants in forest near the village of Siminbuk in Serambakon district on 8 September 2026. According to the report the site was identified by aerial surveillance before ground units moved in to uproot and burn the crop. The commander of the command, Lieutenant General Lucky Avianto, said the plants were strongly suspected of having been cultivated by the Free Papua Organisation's Kodap XXV Bintang Timur, and the report carries no response from that organisation. No arrests were reported, and no cultivated area or weight was given.
