TNI border task force clears 21,400 cannabis plants in Kurima in Yahukimo
ANTARA reported that personnel of the border security task force of Infantry Battalion 725/Woroagi located about 21,400 cannabis plants, described as ready for harvest, at two sites in Kurima district in Yahukimo regency. The commander of Joint Regional Defence Command III, Lieutenant General Lucky Avianto, placed the find on 9 September 2026 and named the Ibiroma complex, while a statement from the armed forces information centre relayed by Jawa Pos placed it on 8 September and named the settlements of Ibiroma and Hesmat. The information centre said the clearance was carried out with 78 personnel under the command of Lieutenant Colonel Safril, and its head, Major General Muhammad Nas, put the value of the plants at about 8 billion rupiah. Military spokesmen said preliminary inquiries suggested the fields were connected to a group led by Egianus Kogoya, an attribution carried by no independent source, and no arrests were reported.
