Polres Gayo Lues destroys an estimated 26.5 hectares of cannabis in the Pining mountains

Serambi Indonesia reported that a joint team from Polres Gayo Lues, led in person by Kapolres AKBP Cakra Donya under Operasi Antik Seulawah 2026, located cannabis plots in the mountains around Desa Ekan and Desa Pepelah in Kecamatan Pining, Gayo Lues, Aceh. The team set out from Desa Ekan on 17 September 2026 and reached the area on foot after about ten hours, and the search and destruction ran over the following days of a four-day operation. Police put the combined area of the plots at an estimated 26.5 hectares carrying an estimated 53,000 plants, which were burned at the site apart from ten retained as evidence. Officers also reported finding 180 kilograms of dried cannabis in three lots of about 50, 100 and 30 kilograms, together with three presses and several huts. Neither Serambi Indonesia nor the Prohaba version published the following day records any arrest or named suspect.
