Police uproot 4,660 marijuana plants at four plantations on the Mt. Teba boundary in Sugpon
The Philippine National Police reported discovering four marijuana plantations at a disputed boundary area on Mt. Teba in Barangay Licungan, Sugpon, on 29 August 2026. Officers recovered an estimated 4,000 seedlings and 660 mature plants, which were uprooted, inventoried and destroyed by burning at the site, with samples retained for laboratory examination. Police put the estimated standard drug price of the plants at 292,000 pesos. The operation was led by Major Ryan Afos of the 2nd Ilocos Sur Provincial Mobile Force Company, working with the provincial drug enforcement unit, provincial and regional intelligence units and the Sugpon municipal police station. No cultivator was arrested.
