PDEA and police uproot 10,960 marijuana plants on the Ilocos Sur and Benguet boundary
Inquirer reported that the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency and the Philippine National Police uprooted and destroyed 10,960 fully grown marijuana plants over two days, 10 and 11 September 2026, in an area between Barangay Licungan in Sugpon, Ilocos Sur and Barangay Tacadang in Kibungan, Benguet. Authorities described the site as a plantation of about 1,760 square metres and put the standard value of the plants at 2,192,000 pesos on the Dangerous Drugs Board scale. No cultivators were arrested, and authorities said charges under section 16 of Republic Act 9165 would be filed against unidentified cultivators while land ownership was verified. The operation involved the agency's Ilocos Sur provincial office, the Sugpon municipal police station and the 103rd Mobile Company of Regional Mobile Force Battalion 1, and the agency's regional director Julius Paderes said the eradication campaign would be sustained.
