Joint operation destroys cannabis at nine sites across about four hectares in Sawang, North Aceh

Lhokseumawe district police, the National Narcotics Agency and Lhokseumawe customs destroyed cannabis growing at nine points across about four hectares in hill country above Gampong Teupin Reusep in Sawang, North Aceh, on 13 August 2026. ANTARA reported that 17,000 plants were destroyed, while Serambi Indonesia gave the figure only as in the teens of thousands. Deputy district police chief Iswahyudi said the plants were about two months old and between one and two metres tall, with some judged close to harvest. They were uprooted and burned on site. Police made no arrests, and said two men identified as the suspected owners of the plots were absent when officers reached the site and had been placed on the wanted list.
