Police uproot about 750,000 marijuana plants at Barangay Loccong in Tinglayan, Kalinga
Police Regional Office-Cordillera reported that police uprooted and burned around 750,000 fully grown marijuana plants at a plantation in the mountainous Barangay Loccong in Tinglayan, Kalinga, on 12 August 2026. The report said the operation drew on the Kalinga Provincial Intelligence Unit, the Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit, both Kalinga Provincial Mobile Force Companies and the municipal police stations of Tinglayan, Balbalan, Lubuagan and Tanudan, in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in Kalinga. Police put the value at approximately 150 million pesos, citing what the report describes as the standard drug valuation used by law enforcement agencies. Manila Bulletin reported that the plants were documented before being burned on site, that no arrests were made and that authorities had not identified the owner or the cultivators.
