Assam Rifles destroy 25,000 to 30,000 ganja plants worth ₹1.5 crore at Kalamchoura, Sepahijala

On Wednesday 13 December 2023, an Assam Rifles-led joint operation with local police and Forest Department officials destroyed approximately 25,000 to 30,000 cannabis plants spread across approximately 10 acres of forest land in the general area of Kalamchoura, Sepahijala district. Officials estimated the destroyed material at approximately ₹1.5 crore. The operation followed a tip-off received by Assam Rifles. The plants were destroyed by burning at the site.
