BSF and Kalamchoura Police destroy 30,000 ganja plants on 18 acres at South Kalamchoura
On Monday 18 December 2023, a Border Security Force joint operation with Kalamchoura Police Station personnel destroyed approximately 30,000 immature cannabis plants in the general area of South Kalamchoura village, Sonamura sub-division, Sepahijala district. The operation cleared approximately 18 acres of cultivated forest land. The operation was one of three concurrent Tripura cannabis destruction drives on the same day, alongside the 31,500-plant Bishalgarh op at Gajeria and Ganiyamara and the 20,000-plant Kumarghat SDPO op at Ramdula para in Unakoti district. Cumulative season figures to that date were stated as 609,400 plants destroyed across Tripura, mostly in Sepahijala district.
