Indonesia eradication campaigns (2025)
More actions
Indonesia eradication campaigns (2025) covers cannabis eradication reporting from Indonesia during 2025. Two late-year operations dominate the documented hectarage: the Bareskrim operation that located 51.75 hectares across 26 plots inside Gunung Leuser National Park in Gayo Lues, Aceh, in November[1] and the Brimob destruction of about ten hectares at Tor Sihite in Mandailing Natal, North Sumatra, the same month.[2] Around them, the year's reporting shows the two North Sumatra patterns documented since 2020 both active: repeated multi-hectare destruction at the Tor Sihite complex and farmer-scale finds in the Lake Toba rim regencies.

North Sumatra
The Tor Sihite complex in Mandailing Natal produced three destructions. In July, BNNP Sumut and Brimob burned about two hectares on the Panyabungan Timur side of the hills,[3] and six days later a joint patrol led by Kodim 0212/Tapanuli Selatan destroyed about three hectares and some 30,000 plants above Desa Rao-Rao Dolok, at about 950 metres.[4] On 12 November, Batalyon C Pelopor of Brimob Polda Sumut burned about ten hectares in the same hills, 30 personnel reaching the fields after a nine-hour approach.[2]
In the Toba rim regencies, a June roadside arrest led Polres Tanah Karo to 37 plants at Desa Lingga, Simpang Empat district, Karo;[5] in October a joint police and army team destroyed about 400 plants, some three metres tall, in the Sibuatan forest of Merek district, Karo;[6] and in November Polres Tapanuli Selatan arrested a farmer growing 29 plants among oil palms at Desa Sihuik-huik, Angkola Selatan district.[7]
BNN Sumut's year-end release reported 760 kg of cannabis seized across 2025 in the province, alongside 84 kg of methamphetamine, without a district breakdown.[8]
Aceh
A Bareskrim Polri operation in November documented 51.75 hectares of cannabis across 26 plots inside Gunung Leuser National Park, spanning the Gayo Lues kecamatan of Blangkejeren, Putri Betung and Pining. The investigation began with the arrest of two men carrying 47 kg in Deli Serdang, North Sumatra; reporting described harvested cannabis packed in sacks and floated downriver to waiting couriers. The plots were burned in place.[1] BNN also continued its aerial-surveillance operations in Aceh Besar, destroying about two hectares at sites including Maheng in September.[9]
