Sitalkuchi is a landrace cannabis appellation in the Koch Bihar growing area of the North Bengal Plains, in Cooch Behar District, West Bengal, India. It covers the Sitalkuchi community development block in Mathabhanga subdivision.

Cultivation and enforcement

Bhogar Dabdi in Sitalkuchi was one of the sites where the district police destroyed cannabis in September 2024,[1] and Sitalkuchi was among the areas named a month later, when the police reported about 1,890 bighas cut since September with no arrests.[2]

Police have also found large stores of ganja in the block. Sitalkuchi police found 1,092 kg in a bunker under a house floor and a pit beside it at Maghpala in April 2025, and reported about 1,900 kg recovered from Maghpala and Purba Bhogdabri in the month before.[3] Later that month they dug 35.5 kg out of a drum buried in a yard at Purba Bhogdabri.[4]
