Les producteurs de cannabis dans le Rif - Maroc : étude d'une activité économique à risque
Université Lille 1 · 2009
A doctoral thesis in economics on the producers of cannabis in the Rif, starting from the extension of cultivation there between the 1960s and 2003. It draws on quantitative data, interviews, observation, group analysis and photographic and video images to study producers' trajectories, motivations and relations with local authorities, using the concepts of risk and conventions. The author distinguishes types of producer, including "leaders" who introduce cultivation into villages, and compares old and new growing zones. The thesis also considers market formation, the marginalisation of the Rif and the limits of public policy responses.
