Dynamique agricole en montagneuses : Rôle de la culture du cannabis dans la reconfiguration de l'occupation des terres à Bab-Berred 2005-2025 (analyse spatio-quantitative)
Territoires, Environnement et Développement · 2026
Uses remote sensing and GIS (Landsat and SRTM data) with a supervised classification to measure land-cover change in the commune of Bab Berred in the central Rif between 2005 and 2025, with a kappa of about 0.72. The authors describe the agricultural land as marked by the predominance of cannabis cultivation and find that it rose from 40% to 52% of the commune while natural formations fell from 54% to 38%. Expansion was stable until 2015 and accelerated between 2015 and 2025 (+36%), concentrated between 600 and 900 m and on moderate slopes of 15 to 30%. The authors link the change to growing dependence on a monoculture and to deforestation and erosion pressures.
