Rasoli General Population 2021 is a landrace cannabis accession from the village of Rasol, in the Parvati Valley of Kullu District, Himachal Pradesh, India, listed as Rasoli in the seed catalogue of The Real Seed Company (RSC).[1] RSC describes it as seed direct from Rasol village, from the 2021 harvest, of a strain grown for hand-rubbed charas.[1] The listing shows it out of stock at RSC and on its Kwik Seeds site (checked 27 October 2026).[1][2]
Geography
History
According to RSC, the best Rasoli charas is recognised by its amber colour and its aroma, and many connoisseurs regard it as the finest charas of the Parvati region, better even than that of Malana.[1] RSC reports one theory that the strain began as a hybrid between Nepali plants brought into the valley and the original Malana landrace, which it finds plausible from its scents.[1]
Collection Details
The listing gives the sourcing as "The Real Seed Company, Rasol, Indian Himalaya, 2021 Harvest". It has given that sourcing since June 2023; an earlier lot sold under the same title is not this accession.[4] RSC warns that cultivated and wild plants in the region are increasingly affected by modern hybrids brought in from outside, and that authenticity cannot be guaranteed.[1]
In August 2023 Angus gave a packet of Rasoli seed to the U.S. National Plant Germplasm System, which holds it as accession G 33755 at its Plant Genetic Resources Unit in Geneva, New York.[5][6]
Cultivation Details
RSC gives the purposes as charas (hand-rubbed), fibre and seeds, and the harvest as late September through October, and lists outdoor or greenhouse growing.[1] In February 2025 it reported that Rasoli was among the accessions that showed excellent resistance to powdery mildew in its trials, and among the best against Septoria leaf spot.[7]
Botanical Characteristics
RSC gives a height of 2 to 6 metres outdoors and describes tall plants with long internodes and loose, intensely resinous Sativa-type buds. It lists floral, fruity and malty aromas, and calls the plants vigorous and hardy, of intermediate domestication, with CBD.[1]
