Drone-led operation destroys 1 lakh ganja plants on 30 acres at Manikyanagar and Beluarchar

On Thursday 26 December 2024, Kalamchoura Police, in joint operation with Tripura State Rifles, destroyed at least 100,000 mature cannabis plants in two locations at Manikyanagar and Beluarchar in Sonamura sub-division, Sepahijala district. The cultivation, identified through anti-narcotics drone camera tracking across approximately 30 acres of forest land in six plots, was uprooted and destroyed on the spot. The operation was led by Kalamchoura Police Station Officer-in-Charge Nadu Gopal Deb. He told reporters the cannabis was at mature stage and capable of producing large supply quantities, and that timely operations had completely destroyed the cultivation.
