BSF and Jatrapur Police destroy 15,000 ganja saplings at Nirbhoypur, named cultivator pursued

On Tuesday 16 July 2024, a Border Security Force-led joint operation with the Forest Department and Jatrapur Police Station personnel destroyed approximately 15,000 cannabis saplings at Village Nirbhoypur under Jatrapur Police Station, Sonamura sub-division, Sepahijala district. Officials estimated the destroyed material at approximately ₹7.5 lakh. Per a press release from FTR HQ BSF Tripura, intelligence input had identified the cultivator as Babul Mazumdar, an Indian national resident of Village Nirbhoypur, who had prepared a cannabis nursery at the back of his house. Legal action by the Forest Department and Jatrapur Police Station was being taken against the landowner.
