Highland Lao #5 General Population 2023 is a landrace cannabis accession from Bolikhamsai Province, Laos, listed as Highland Lao #5 in the seed catalogue of The Real Seed Company (RSC).[1] RSC classifies it as a Lao-Thai ganja landrace.[1]

Geography

RSC places the landrace in the jungles and highlands of Bolikhamsai, which it calls a crucial centre of production of "Thai" ganja. It gives a latitude of about 18° N.[1]

Collection Details

The listing gives the sourcing as The Real Seed Company, Laos (2023). RSC calls the line a new accession and states that it is the first accession it has obtained from this farmer.[1] Neither RSC nor the Kwik Seeds listing of the same line, on the shop RSC calls its other site,[2] names the farmer or the village. Kwik Seeds gives the same sourcing.[3]

Cultivation Details

RSC gives the purpose as ganja, which it glosses as seedless or lightly seeded buds. It gives the regional growing period as about five to six months from seed to harvest and lists greenhouse or outdoor growing.[1]

Botanical Characteristics

RSC describes narrow-leafleted, classic Sativa-type plants 2 to 4 metres tall.[1] Versions of the listing from 2023 to May 2025 classified the line as Cannabis sativa subsp. indica var. indica.[4][5] According to RSC, the listing's photograph shows a plant of this accession growing at 40° N in mid-July.[1]

Aroma

RSC describes rich, intense aromas.[1]

Effects

RSC describes a soaring, euphoric and luminous high with "powerful old-school positivity". It says the effects range from strongly stimulating euphoria to trippy psychoactivity.[1] The Kwik Seeds summary line calls the high stimulating and psychedelic.[3]
