Property:Has georeference basis
More actions
This property records what kind of point an accession's coordinates are. It travels with Property:Has coordinate uncertainty, which says how far the place may lie from the point. It corresponds to the Darwin Core term georeferenceRemarks and, for a displaced point, dataGeneralizations.
It is set by Template:Accession from georeference_basis, and only when the accession has
coordinates. The Talk page of each accession says which place or published coordinate the point was taken from.
This is a property of type Text.
The allowed values for this property are:
- holder's georeference: the coordinate the holding herbarium, genebank or seller publishes for the specimen or seed lot.
- collection point from label: a coordinate written on the specimen label itself.
- settlement point: the point of the settlement or site the source names (a village, a town, a cave, a garden), not a spot within it.
- district point: the middle of the district, or of a named area no larger than a district (a valley, a growing area), that the source names.
- province point: the middle of the province or region the source names.
- obfuscated field point: the collector's field point, displaced by up to 500 m before it was entered. Used on ZOM- accessions (see the Privacy policy).
News items record what their event coordinates stand for in a different property, Property:Has coordinate basis.
