Anon. 2808 is a herbarium accession of Cannabis sativa collected at the edge of a path at a place its label calls Hai-tchen, in China, on 30 August 1931, with no collector named. The Institute of Botany, Jiangsu Province and Chinese Academy of Sciences in Nanjing holds three sheets, NAS00103712[1], NAS00103713[2] and NAS00103720[3].
Collection and locality
Each of the three sheets carries a printed label of the Musée Heude, filled in by hand in French with the same entries: the family Cannabinacées, the name Cannabis sativa L., the locality Hai-tchen, the date 30 Août 1931 (30 August 1931) and the number N° 2808. Under Observations, NAS00103712 alone adds Bord d'un chemin (edge of a path). The label has no line for a collector, and no collector is named on any of the sheets.[4][5][6] The catalogue gives the number, the year and Jiangsu for all three, and names the collector as A. J. M. Delavay.[1][2][3]
Specimen and identification
All three sheets carry much-branched plants with narrow, serrate leaflets and long, slender fruiting spikes at the tops of the branches. The labels name the plant Cannabis sativa L., with no determiner.[4][5][6] The Chinese Virtual Herbarium publishes its sheet images under a non-commercial, no-derivatives licence (CC BY-NC-ND 4.0); they are read and cited here, not reproduced.
