Mango Thai #2 General Population 2023 is a landrace cannabis accession from Laos, listed as Mango Thai #2 in the seed catalogue of The Real Seed Company (RSC).[1] RSC describes it as a cannabis landrace collected from a highland village where tribal farmers are contracted by a Thai broker to cultivate ganja for the Thai market.[1]

Collection Details

The listing gives the sourcing as The Real Seed Company, Laos, Southeast Asia, 2023, and a latitude of about 21° N.[1] RSC adds that the two villages from which the recent batches of Mango Thai were sourced are closely linked and use the same tract of hills and border jungle to cultivate cannabis, and that plants of this accession should be expected to be very close to those of the other Mango Thai accession (Mango Thai General Population 2023).[1] The Kwik Seeds listing of the same line, on the shop RSC calls its other site,[2] dates its seed to 2021 and adds that new accessions of the same type or region are numbered sequentially to avoid confusion, which was RSC's own line from May 2022 to May 2024.[3] Neither listing names the villages or a farmer.

Cultivation Details

RSC gives the purpose as ganja, which it glosses as seedless or lightly seeded buds, and the regional growing period as about five to six months from seed to harvest. It lists greenhouse or outdoor growing.[1] Kwik Seeds gives the regional harvest as late December to early January, which was RSC's line until January 2023.[3]

Botanical Characteristics

RSC gives a height of 2 to 4 metres, Sativa-type architecture and aromas of mango, tobacco, earthiness and musk, with an intense, luminous high. It classifies the line as Cannabis sativa subsp. indica var. indica.[1][3]
