Discussion
Evidentiary scope
The article rests on the RSC listing for Mango Thai #2 and the Kwik Seeds listing of the same line. Kwik Seeds is the shop RSC calls its other site (RSC, Hemp & Multipurpose). RSC dates its collection to 2023 and describes a highland village where tribal farmers are contracted by a Thai broker; it names no village, district or province, and gives only a latitude of about 21° N. Kwik Seeds describes a different collection, of 2021. The comparison with the other Mango Thai accession is RSC's. Éloise 03:55, 18 September 2026 (+07)
Georeferencing
As on Mango Thai and Lao Sa: the listing names only Laos and gives a latitude of about 21° N, so the coordinate is the midpoint of the country's extent along 21.00° N in OpenStreetMap (relation 49903, full polygon; 100.55° E to 103.06° E), rounded to two decimal places: 21.00, 101.81, which OpenStreetMap places in Na Mo District, Oudomxay Province. It is an inference from the listing, not a collection site, so the province field stays blank and the region code is UNK. Éloise 03:55, 18 September 2026 (+07)
Editorial treatment
- Accession ID.
RSC-LAO-UNK-0120230002: the second 2023 accession under this region code, after Mango Thai, in RSC's catalogue order. The month digits are01. - Name. Mango Thai #2 General Population 2023, keeping RSC's own numbering, as Iranian #2 and Highland Lao #5 do.
- Collector.
Angus, as on the other accessions RSC sourced itself. - Vocabulary mapping. "Sativa-type architecture" is entered as growth pattern
Christmas tree, the provisional RSC convention discussed on Talk:RSC-LAO-CHA-0120240001. - Conservation priority.
Medium, as on Mango Thai: contract cultivation for the Thai market in two linked villages is a moderate population with more than one source. The ratings follow the accession definitions inauthored/planning/DESIGN.md:Criticalrare, from a single farmer or micro-population;Highlimited population, few sources;Mediummoderate population, multiple sources known;Lowcommon, broadly available within its range. - Related accession.
RSC-LAO-UNK-0120230001. - Not entered. Planting and harvest dates, because the listing gives only the regional growing period.
- Conventions. Photoperiod
Short-dayand introgressionMinimalfollow the other RSC accessions; neither listing states them. Éloise 03:55, 18 September 2026 (+07)
Source discrepancies
- Sourcing. RSC: "Laos, Southeast Asia, 2023". Kwik Seeds: "Laos, Southeast Asia, 2021", RSC's line in May 2022.
- Regional harvest. RSC: "Approx. 5 to 6 months from seed to harvest". Kwik Seeds: "late December to early January", RSC's line until January 2023.
- Numbering note. Kwik Seeds keeps the sentence on sequential numbering, which RSC carried from May 2022 to May 2024.
- Photograph note. Only RSC says the field images show plants from this accession at 40° N in mid-July.
The listings do not explain the differences. The article uses both and attributes each. Éloise 03:55, 18 September 2026 (+07)
Archived versions
The Wayback Machine holds 12 versions of the RSC listing, from May 2022 to June 2026, and all were read. The listing has sold three collections under the same address:
- Sourcing. "Laos, Southeast Asia, 2021" in May 2022; "2022" from October 2022 to March 2025; "2023" from June 2025.
- Regional harvest. "Late December to early January" until January 2023, "Approx. 6 months" from June 2023 and "Approx. 5 to 6 months" from December 2024.
- Numbering note. The sentence on sequential numbering stood from May 2022 to May 2024 and stands on Kwik Seeds now.
- Photographs. The listing showed a placeholder in May 2022 and one photograph from October 2022. The three field photographs and the village photograph, and the note that the field images show plants from this accession at 40° N in mid-July, first appear in December 2024, when the sourcing line read 2022.
- The four versions of the 2023 collection add nothing to the current listing, which keeps the classification line. Éloise 03:55, 18 September 2026 (+07)
Photographs
The infobox image and the gallery are the five photographs on the RSC listing, one photograph from the Kwik Seeds listing and the photograph among trees that the Mango Thai listing also shows, uploaded under fair use at reduced resolution. RSC states that "The field images show plants from this accession at 40° N in mid July", so those captions give the latitude and month. The photographs and the note first appear in the archived version of 9 December 2024, when the sourcing line read 2022; the line changed to 2023 by June 2025 and both were kept. The listing does not reconcile the two, and this page draws no conclusion. The village photograph has no caption from RSC, so its caption says only what it shows; RSC masked the eyes of the woman in it. The Kwik Seeds photograph shows seed.
