Pistrick 182 is a herbarium accession of cannabis gathered in a rocky valley in the Bajanchangoj area, about 11 km south-west of the centre of Matad sum in Dornod Province, eastern Mongolia, on 6 August 1987 by K. Pistrick and Č. Sančir of the Mongolian-German expedition. It was first determined as Cannabis ruderalis Janisch. The Leibniz Institute of Plant Genetics and Crop Plant Research at Gatersleben holds the sheet as GAT 0007976.[1]
Collection and locality
The printed label of the herbarium of the Institut für Kulturpflanzenforschung, Berlin, reads Plantae mongolicae and Cannabis ruderalis Janisch., with the place Aimak Dornod, Felstal im Gebiet Bajanchangoj ca. 11 km südwestlich vom Somonzentrum Matad, Talgrund mit lockerem Ulmus pumila-Bestand (Dornod aimag, rocky valley in the Bajanchangoj area, about 11 km south-west of the sum centre of Matad, valley floor with an open stand of Ulmus pumila). The line for altitude is blank. It is dated 6./8. 1987, numbered Nr. 182 and marked Mongolisch-Deutsche Expedition (Mongolian-German expedition); a pasted strip names K. Pistrick et Č. Sančir as collectors.[2] The catalogue gives the same place text, the number and the date 6 August 1987.[1] Bajanchangoj is very probably the Bayankhangai of Zhurba 486 (1975), south of Matad.
Specimen and identification
The sheet carries a leafy plant with palmate leaves and its roots, a branched flowering panicle at the right and a small paper packet at the left.[2] Č. Sančir determined it as Cannabis ruderalis in 1987 or 1988, and K. Pistrick re-determined it on 6 March 2012 as Cannabis sativa s.l.[2] The catalogue files it as Cannabis sativa L., determined by Pistrick.[1] The holder's image is not reproduced here, because no licence for it is stated.
