Zhurba 486 is a herbarium accession of cannabis gathered at Bayankhangai, in Matad sum of Dornod Province, eastern Mongolia, on 1 July 1975 by O. V. Zhurba, who determined it as Cannabis ruderalis Janisch. The Moscow University Herbarium holds the sheet as MW0175121.[1]
Collection and locality
The sheet carries the same printed expedition form as Zhurba 1855 (1974), completed Cannabis ruderalis Janisch., Монгольская Народная Республика, Восточный аймак, Матад сомон (Eastern aimag, Matad sum) and Баян-Ханга. The habitat line is left blank. The number and date read 1975 № 486 and 1/VII.[2] The catalogue gives the collector and the date, 1 July 1975, with no number or locality.[1] The Eastern aimag is today's Dornod.
Specimen and identification
The sheet carries a branched plant pulled up with its roots, with large palmate leaves and flowers in the leaf axils.[2] Zhurba signed the label as collector and determiner and named the plant Cannabis ruderalis Janisch.; the catalogue files it as Cannabis sativa L.[2][1] A cross in a circle on the printed map of Mongolia sits over lake Buir Nuur, about 200 km east of Matad.
