NACOC and the Ghana Immigration Service destroy cannabis gardens at Siiru in the Nadowli District

Graphic Online reported, citing a statement of the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) issued on 31 October, that the Upper West Regional Command of NACOC and the Ghana Immigration Service, acting on information from immigration officers, destroyed several cannabis gardens at Siiru, a community near the Black Volta in the Nadowli District. The report says some plants had been harvested and others were about to be, and that cannabis was growing in incomplete buildings, in front of houses and alongside maize. The plants were burned, and the team then spoke to residents about the dangers of cultivation. The report gives no quantities and no arrests.
