Interior Minister Muntaka urges Ghanaian cannabis growers to form cooperatives and cultivate under licence
MyJoyOnline reported that Ghana's Minister for the Interior, Mubarak Mohammed Muntaka, speaking on Joy FM's Super Morning Show on Monday 12 October 2026, urged people interested in growing cannabis to form cooperatives and use the legal framework for cultivating approved varieties. He said the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) would work with cooperatives so that they grew approved varieties within the permitted THC content for export. MyJoyOnline noted that Ghana's framework permits licensed cultivation for industrial or medicinal purposes of cannabis with no more than 0.3 per cent THC on a dry-weight basis.
