Trinidad and Tobago's Senate passes the bill raising the minimum age for cannabis use to 25 by 15 votes to 12

Caribbean National Weekly reported that the Senate of Trinidad and Tobago approved the Miscellaneous Provisions (Alcohol, Cannabis, Dangerous Drugs, Gambling and Tobacco) Bill, 2026 early on Wednesday 7 October 2026, by 15 votes to 12 with three abstentions. All the votes in favour came from Government senators. The bill raises the legal age for alcohol and tobacco to 21 and for gambling and cannabis use to 25.
