Trinidad and Tobago's House of Representatives passes a bill raising the age for legal cannabis possession and home cultivation to over 25

The Parliament of Trinidad and Tobago records that the House of Representatives passed the Miscellaneous Provisions (Alcohol, Cannabis, Dangerous Drugs, Gambling and Tobacco) Bill, 2026 on 30 September 2026, by 23 votes to 10, on the day it was introduced by the Attorney General. According to the Parliament's explanatory note on the bill, it would limit the legal possession of up to 30 grammes of cannabis, 5 grammes of cannabis resin and up to four growing plants to people over the age of 25, and raise the minimum age for alcohol and tobacco to 21. The bill had its first reading in the Senate on 2 October 2026.
