BSF and NCB seize 5 quintals of ganja and destroy cannabis across 5 acres on the Cooch Behar border

ANI reported that the Border Security Force and the Narcotics Control Bureau ran a joint operation on the India and Bangladesh border in Cooch Behar district. An official release quoted by the agency said troops of the 78th Battalion under the BSF Guwahati Frontier detained one Indian smuggler carrying about 5 quintals of ganja at a border village. The release said roughly 5 acres of cannabis cultivation were destroyed by cutting and burning. The release added that such cultivation in these areas had become a source of earning for offenders, which is the force's own characterisation.
