Army-led team burns 8.9 hectares of cannabis in a protected forest at Beutong Ateuh, Nagan Raya
Serambinews reported that the commander of Korem 012/Teuku Umar, Kolonel Inf Riyanto, and the Nagan Raya regional leadership forum (Forkopimda) destroyed by burning about 8.9 hectares of cannabis in the forest of Beutong Ateuh Banggalang, Nagan Raya, on Monday 10 April 2023. Korem 012/Teuku Umar, Kodim 0116/Nagan Raya and Denpom IM/2 Meulaboh worked with the Nagan Raya narcotics board, the Nagan Raya police and the Nagan Raya prosecutor's office. The Nagan Raya district military commander, Letkol Inf Tony Setyo Widodo, said the fields lay inside a protected forest of Aceh province, and the report puts them a climb of five to seven hours from Blang Meurandeh village. According to the report, the fields had been found by a joint team of 24 from Korem 012/Teuku Umar and army intelligence units, sent to check information about cannabis in the protected forest and to inspect a planned training ground for Yonif 116/GS.
