West Aceh police burn 32 hectares of cannabis in a protected forest in Nagan Raya

acehkini reported that Polres Aceh Barat, the West Aceh police, destroyed 32 hectares of cannabis in a protected forest area of Nagan Raya, Aceh, on Monday 6 March 2023. According to the West Aceh police chief, AKBP Pandji Santoso, who took part, the field was traced from a case in late December 2022 at Meunasah Rambot in Kaway XVI, West Aceh, in which three suspects were caught carrying 16 kilograms of dried cannabis, and the information gathered pointed to the Beutong Ateuh area. He said 50 officers reached the site after a 12-hour march through mountains and found about 70,000 plants between 30 and 250 centimetres tall, from newly planted to ready for harvest, which were burned over about three hours. The owner was at the site and fled despite three warning shots, and had not been identified.
