Satellite imagery leads Polda Sumut to 150 hectares of cannabis at Tor Sihite

Polda Sumut announced on 11 November 2023 that satellite imagery followed by drone verification had located about 150 hectares of cannabis across 18 points in the Tor Sihite hills of Mandailing Natal: ten points at Desa Rao-Rao Dolok in Tambangan district and eight at Desa Pardomuan and Huta Tua in Panyabungan Timur. Antara reported that the investigation began with the arrest of three couriers from Padang carrying 15 kg of cannabis at Gunung Baringin on 1 November. Police said the fields were run from inside Padang's Class IIA prison by an inmate and arrested a landowner from Desa Huta Bangun. Nine of the 18 locations had been destroyed by the following day.
