Fai awut (ยาไฟอาวุธ) is a powdered medicine of Thai traditional medicine made from 32 drugs, of which cannabis is one part. Vichai Chokevivat traces it to the Prathom chinda, the scripture on the diseases of children, in the 1910 printing of the Paetsart songkhroh, which gives it for the seven kinds of sang, the twelve kinds of tan chon, the asthma of nursing infants, cough and wasting with a yellow skin.[1]: 334, 340 It was one of the 16 cannabis formulas that the Department of Thai Traditional and Alternative Medicine named in January 2019 for use once the narcotics law allowed it.[2]

A column in MGR Online in November 2017 printed the formula from a paper of the department's Institute of Thai Traditional Medicine, presented to a committee of Rangsit University on 27 October 2017. It takes one part each of nutmeg, mace, cardamom, cloves, the "five kot", the "five thian", liquorice, cannabis and the heartwood of saem thale; two parts each of four drugs, among them long pepper; three parts each of six roots; four parts of hatsakhun thet; nine of buk ro; and sixteen parts each of pepper, dried ginger and the root of chettamun phloeng. The drugs are powdered, worked with lime juice and rolled into sticks.[3] Thanetphon Punpeng and co-authors list it among the three cannabis formulas of the Prathom chinda, with the plant named and no part, and count it among the eight formulas of the 2019 list that match the old texts.[4]: 167–168

At the Thai-medicine cannabis clinic of the Rajamangala University of Technology Isan in Sakon Nakhon it was one of the 15 cannabis formulas used between February 2020 and January 2022, and one of the two least often given.[5]: 6–7
