Property:Has regional corroboration
More actions
This property links an accession to an independent source that documents cannabis in the region the accession is said to come from: its growing region, growing area, district or another named area larger than the collection site. The source makes the stated region of origin plausible. It says nothing about the population the material was drawn from or about the material itself.
This is a property of type Page. Each value is the title of a page on this wiki: a source page, a research item, a news item or another accession.
Three levels of provenance evidence
| Level | Property | What the source shows |
|---|---|---|
| Region | Has regional corroboration | Cannabis grows or grew in the region the accession is said to come from. |
| Population | Has population corroboration | Cannabis grows or grew at the locality or field the accession names. |
| Identity | Has identity confirmation | This material is what the accession says it is. |
Each source is entered once, at the highest level it supports. A source that confirms an accession's identity also bears on its population and its region. It is not repeated at the lower levels.
Independence
A source counts only when it does not derive from the accession's own provenance claim. The holder's listing, catalogue or inventory entry is that claim. So is the collector's own account of the collection. Two documents in one chain of quotation count as one source, entered under the earlier document.
The source must document cannabis of the kind the accession is. A report of wild hemp in a district does not corroborate a cultivated drug landrace from that district.
Reading an empty level
An accession with no value at a level has no evidence at that level entered on this wiki. Its infobox shows this as None recorded. That describes what this wiki holds. It is not evidence against the accession's stated origin.
Evidence is not inherited
Evidence attaches to one accession. A reproduction does not inherit the evidence of the accession it was grown from. Accessions from the same population share evidence only where each one lists it.
