Kullu police report cannabis destroyed on 6,175 bighas in 2019 against 2,700 bighas in 2018

The Tribune reported on 23 September 2019 that police data show cannabis destroyed on 6,175 bighas of private and forest land in Kullu district so far that year, against 2,700 bighas in 2018. Superintendent of Police Gaurav Singh said cultivation had been found organised in the Parvati and Manikaran valleys and was also found in the Banjar and Sainj valleys. The report says 13 cases had been registered in the district that year against cannabis and opium cultivators and that growers were using high-altitude forest land to produce hybrid cannabis plants.
