Chamoli is a landrace cannabis growing area in Chamoli District, Uttarakhand, India, in the Western Himalayas growing region. It takes in two sites 33 km apart, Niti at 3,600 m and Lambagad at 2,037 to 2,400 m.
Geography
OpenStreetMap places both sites in Joshimath Tehsil. Niti has two accessions, in the sub-block of Niti Valley. Lambagad, 33 km to the south-west, has two more, in the sub-block of Valley of Flowers. The two Lambagad accessions share one point but give different elevations, 2,400 and 2,037 m.
Cultivation
All four accessions are landrace general populations, grown from seed kept from locally grown flower. Three are broadcast-sown. The two Lambagad accessions give a planting season of May and June and a harvest from September to November.
Isabella and Roy collected seed for all four between 13 and 18 October 2025, on the UTT01 expedition. Three samples are from the 2024 harvest and one Niti sample from 2025.
