The Atolang population is the cannabis of Atolang village, also called Atuding, and the fields above it in the Atolang appellation, in the Malana Valley growing area of Kullu District, Himachal Pradesh, India. The Zomia Collective's collection documentation places the village between Nirang and Waichin and its cultivation at 2,800 to 3,200 m.[1] It classes the cannabis as a narrow-leaflet drug-type landrace population grown for charas, drawn from various farmers and from feral plants.[1]

Accessions

Five accessions were collected at Atolang under the expedition code HIMA01: the general population, selections from the village and the upper fields, one from a grower's own fields and a feral selection. Four more were collected under HIM25 on 16 October 2025.

Pressures

The collection documentation says the landrace is threatened by "excessive culling of males", by chemical inputs that degrade the soil and by modern hybrids spreading into other parts of Himachal Pradesh and the Malana Valley.[1]
