Wang 69367 is a herbarium accession of Cannabis sativa collected on a mountain slope at A-tun-tze (Atuntze, now Shengping, the seat of Deqin County), in Yunnan, China, at 3,000 m in September 1935 by C. W. Wang. The Institute of Botany, Chinese Academy of Sciences in Beijing holds a sheet as PE 00578074[1], and the Institute of Botany, Jiangsu Province and Chinese Academy of Sciences in Nanjing a duplicate as NAS00290129[2].
Collection and locality
PE 00578074 carries a Flora of Yunnan form of the Fan Memorial Institute of Biology. It gives the number 69367; the printed months July and Aug. are struck through by hand and Sept. typed above them, with the year 1935. The locality is printed, 德欽設治局 (A-tun-tze), with the altitude 3000 m., the habitat Mountain slope, the habit Herbs and the flowers yellowish white. Two printed tags read Yunnan, C. W. Wang and 1935, with the number in red.[3] NAS00290129 carries the institute's distribution label: C.W.Wang, 69367, A-tun-tze, Sept. 1935 and Alt. 3000 m.; in mountain slope; herb; fl. yellowish white.[4] The catalogue gives the number, the year and Yunnan, with the collector as 王启无 for one sheet and C. W. Wang for the other.[1][2]
Specimen and identification
Both sheets carry long, slender stems with few leaves and sparse small flower clusters along the branches; the leaves near the tops are palmate, of three to seven narrow, serrate leaflets. A slip on the Beijing sheet and the Nanjing label name the plant Cannabis sativa L., determined by K. C. Kuan, the slip in November 1937.[3][4] The Chinese Virtual Herbarium publishes its sheet images under a non-commercial, no-derivatives licence (CC BY-NC-ND 4.0); they are read and cited here, not reproduced.
