Voronov 403 is a herbarium accession of Cannabis sativa gathered in weedy places at the farmstead of Kumsay, on the left bank of a river in the headwaters of the Or, in Aktobe Region, Kazakhstan, on 14 July 1933 by A. G. Voronov. The Moscow University Herbarium holds the sheet as MW0818723.[1]
Collection and locality
The label is stamped ВОРОНОВ А. Г. Растения Актюбинской обл. 1933 г. (A. G. Voronov, Plants of Aktyubinsk Oblast, 1933) and completed by hand Cannabis sativa L., № 403, Хутор Кумсай. (Kumsay farmstead), Левый берег р. (left bank of the river) and a river's name that is not clearly legible, (верховья Ори) (the headwaters of the Or), Засоренные места. (weedy places) and 14/VII 1933 г., and signed as collected and determined by А. Воронов.[2] The catalogue gives the collector, the date and a point, with no number or locality.[1] Voronov's sheet of the year before is Voronov 10 (1932).
Specimen and identification
The sheet carries a long stem with leafy branches and large palmate leaves.[2] Voronov named the plant Cannabis sativa L. A typed slip gives the redetermination of the sheet by E. Small of Canada Agriculture in August 1975 as Cannabis sativa L., the name under which the catalogue files it.[2][1]
