Evidentiary scope
This entire accession rests on one clause in one Overgrow post (vinu58ster, 30 April 2024, post #74 in "Take seeds, leave seeds- Landrace Edition", topic 147089; the same user posted a near-identical sentence on 26 April 2024 in a different thread, "Seed Trading, Moderated (Part 3)", topic 144050, post #621 — both saved in the same search-results capture, doc `coc_forums_resellers-0041`, fetched live 18 September 2026). No cocogenes.com listing, no other reseller, and no other forum post naming "Western Karnataka (Kolar) Selection" was found. Tier A per the worklist, though the evidentiary base is a single clause: no locality within the district, no material description, no photograph, no independent corroboration, and no collection date of any kind, not even a decade. Not one accession: the bundled listing
The worklist row behind this page, "Kerala Selection 2020 / Malana Selection 2020 / Western Karnataka (Kolar) Selection", takes its name from vinu58ster's post — which actually names four cultivars in the one sentence, not three: "Kerala Selection 2020 Malana Selection 2020 Shillong Selection 2020 Western Karnataka (Kolar) Selection." Three of the four had already been drafted, each by the lane covering that place, before this element was noticed as un-rostered:
- Kerala. The South-India lane (`coc_south`) found the same post independently and used it as corroborating evidence for its own Kerala accessions, without merging into it: COC-IND-KER-0100000001 ("Kerala 2020", sourced primarily from a separate Coco Genes site listing) and COC-IND-KER-0100000002 ("Kerala Chellakutti", sourced primarily from Khalifa Genetics). Both of those Talk pages record the overlap with this post as unresolved — neither is asserted to be "the" Kerala Selection 2020 of this sentence, and this page does not resolve that either.
- Malana. The Himachal lane (`coc_himachal`) drafted COC-IND-HIM-0100000006 ("Malana General Population") directly from this same sentence. Its Talk page is where the open question that led to this page was first recorded, verbatim: "does the Kolar element of vinu58ster's list need its own accession (under a new Karnataka province code, `KAR`...), and if so, which lane or later pass drafts it? Not resolved here." This page is that later pass.
- Shillong. Not asked for by the brief that produced this page; noted here only so this Talk page reflects the source completely. The North-East lane (`coc_north_east`) independently matched "Shillong Selection 2020" to an earlier-named forum line and drafted COC-IND-MEG-0100000002 ("Amulya Shillong General Population"), also citing this exact post (its own ref is named `og-2024`, cited identically here).
Western Karnataka (Kolar) is drafted here, as `COC-IND-KAR-0100000004`, closing the gap. `KAR`/`0000` serials `0001`–`0003` belong to three Coco Genes Karnataka lines drafted by `coc_south` (Madhugiri, Mango Karnataka / Mysore mangoes, MangoeX Karnataka) — all sourced independently, none mentioning Kolar or this post. - Year. The source sentence reads "Kerala Selection 2020 Malana Selection 2020 Shillong Selection 2020 Western Karnataka (Kolar) Selection" — each of the other three items is immediately followed by "2020"; this fourth item is not. Read as printed, "2020" belongs to the three items it actually sits next to, not to this one. No other source gives any year, decade, or relative date for this element. Per the brief governing this page, `0000` is entered and `collection_date` stays empty — this is the plain "no year at all" case, not the "approximate year stated" case.
- Descriptive name. `Western Karnataka (Kolar) General Population`. Built the way the Malana sibling built its own name from the same sentence: drop "Selection", keep the source's own place phrase intact, append the controlled-vocabulary accession type. No year is appended, since the ID year is `0000` — matching every `coc_south` Karnataka/Kerala page in this batch, none of which write out a literal "0000" in the descriptive name.
- `admin_2`: "Kolar" normalised to "Kolar District". The source's own words are the bare parenthetical "(Kolar)". Entered in the infobox, and linked in prose, as `Kolar District`, matching this batch's established handling of a bare district-level name: `COC-IND-HIM-0120190001` takes Coco Genes' own "District : Kullu" and enters/links it as `Kullu District`, both in the infobox field and in running prose. No locality, town or village within the district is named by any source, so `locality` stays blank rather than assuming Kolar town itself is meant.
- "Western" not reconciled with Kolar's location. Kolar district sits in the south-east of Karnataka, near the Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu borders — not in the state's western belt (coastal Karnataka and the Western Ghats). Not applicable in the usual sense: the source is a live Overgrow search-API capture (doc `coc_forums_resellers-0041`, fetched live 18 September 2026, HTTP 200), not a Coco Genes catalogue page, so no Wayback layer applies to it. cocogenes.com itself has answered 403 since approximately 10 February 2025 and holds no listing for this line under any name found.
