Sinai General Population 1990 is a landrace cannabis accession of seed that The Real Seed Company (RSC) says it collected in various batches in the mountains of the Sinai Peninsula, Egypt, between 1990 and 1997.[1] RSC lists the line as Sinai and now sells seed from reproductions of the original accessions grown outside Egypt, which is recorded at 1990 RSC Sinai Reproduction.[1]
Geography
RSC gives a latitude of 29° N. It writes that the landrace is very hardy because of the demanding conditions in Egypt's mountains, which range from around 50 °C to near freezing in winter.[1]
History
According to RSC, cultivation by the Bedouin in the wadis is basic, occasionally using mud brought from the Nile but usually only camel dung.[1] RSC writes that the cannabis domesticates native to Sinai share more traits with strains to the north in the Middle East, the direction from which it says they spread out of Central Asia, than with those of sub-Saharan Africa, and that its Sudanese accession is clearly a close relative, perhaps through seed carried along the Nile.[1]
Collection Details
The listing gives the sourcing as "The Real Seed Company, Sinai, Egypt, 1990 – 1997". Its earliest archived version, of August 2019, read "personally collected at source in Sinai, 1990 – 1997".[2]

Botanical Characteristics
RSC describes an early-maturing semidwarf landrace that can show day-neutral ("semi-autoflowering") traits, with two forms: plants of Indica-type morphology, 0.6 to 1.5 metres tall with a compact Christmas-tree profile, and narrower-leafleted, Sativa-type plants, 1.3 to 1.8 metres tall, with a trainable vine-like habit and prolific branching. It writes that both have a rose scent that develops into tangy "Turkish delight" aromas in flower, and that the buds grow in foxtails.[1] RSC reports that some plants show CBD and some can be high in THC, and that a standout plant tested in the Netherlands allegedly showed 16 per cent THC and 1.5 per cent CBD.[1] The listing describes the plants of the reproductions RSC sells.[1]
