Panjshir General Population 2022 is a landrace cannabis accession from the Panjshir Valley, in Panjshir Province, Afghanistan, listed as Panjshir in the seed catalogue of The Real Seed Company (RSC).[1] RSC describes it as a landrace collected from the winter 2022 harvest in the valley.[1] The line is on sale at RSC and on its Kwik Seeds site (checked 27 October 2026).[1][2]

Geography

RSC describes the Panjshir Valley as an ethnically Tajik region of the eastern Afghan Hindu Kush, and gives a latitude of 35.5° N.[1] It considers it highly likely, given the valley's culture, economy and geography, that the accession is a markedly distinct variety of cannabis.[1]

Collection Details

The listing gives the sourcing as "Landrace Genetics, Panjshir Province, Afghanistan (2022)" and calls the seed a pristine landrace accession from the winter 2022 harvest.[1] RSC announced it in February 2023 among newly collected accessions from Afghanistan.[3] The listing now offers the seed at a discount, because it comes from the winter 2022 harvest and its viability may have dropped below 80 per cent.[1]

In August 2023 Angus gave a packet of Panjshir seed to the U.S. National Plant Germplasm System, which holds it as accession G 33752 at its Plant Genetic Resources Unit in Geneva, New York.[4][5]

Cultivation Details

RSC gives the purpose as charas (sieved resin) and the harvest as October.[1] Versions of the listing up to April 2025 also named bhang, as the Kwik Seeds listing still does.[6][2]

Botanical Characteristics

The listing's photographs of young plants show the accession at 40° N in mid-July; its photographs of buds are from a customer growing outdoors in North America, taken after a few days of drying.[1]
