Identifier

The accession identifier is RSC-AFG-PAN-0120220001, built from the holder, the ISO 3166-1 alpha-3 country, the province segment, the month, the year and the sequence number.

  • Province segment PAN is for Panjshir Province, which the sourcing line names.
  • Year 2022 is the harvest the listing gives, "winter 2022". The month digits are 01 because no month is given.
  • Sequence 0001. It is the only RSC accession for this province segment.

Sourcing

The RSC listing for Panjshir as it stood on 27 October 2026 and its ten versions in the Wayback Machine from March 2023 to April 2026; the Kwik Seeds listing as it stood on 26 October 2026; RSC's post of 13 February 2023; and the GRIN-Global entry for G 33752. Kwik Seeds is the shop RSC calls its other site (RSC, Hemp & Multipurpose).

Lots at this listing

All ten archived versions are titled Panjshir and give the 2022 sourcing, so one lot has been on sale and the page is not split.

Typing

  • Classification: Landrace, sourcing type Point of Origin, autochtonous Yes: the listing describes seed collected from the harvest in the valley.
  • Collector. Angus, as on the other accessions whose sourcing line reads "Landrace Genetics".
  • Growing region. Hindu Kush, from the listing's "eastern Afghan Hindu Kush". No growing area is entered: the wiki has no page for the valley as a growing area.
  • Processing. "Charas (sieved resin)" is entered as Dry-sift.
  • Not entered. Leaf shape and height: the listing describes no plant traits. Seed viability: the listing's discount note says it may have fallen below 80 per cent, and no current test is reported.
  • Conventions. Photoperiod Short-day and introgression Minimal follow the other RSC accessions; the listing states neither.

Georeferencing

No point is given. The listing names the Panjshir Valley and Panjshir Province and no village. The donor's coordinate on the USDA entry G 33752, 35.4339, 69.7931, lies 5 m from OpenStreetMap's label point for Panjshir Province (node 2278921325), so it marks the province, not a place within it. OpenStreetMap maps no extent for the valley itself (its only valley object is a point, node 2990619968), and the valley is the province that bears its name, so the finest place named is a province, which gives no point.

Source discrepancies

  • Viability. RSC: on discount because the seed's "viability may have dropped below 80%". Kwik Seeds, and RSC until April 2025: "Repeatedly tested, these seeds exhibit close to 100% viability."
  • Purpose. RSC: "Charas (sieved resin)"; Kwik Seeds and RSC until April 2025: "Charas (sieved resin), Bhang".
  • Genetics line. RSC: "Panjshiri Cannabis Landrace"; Kwik Seeds: "Panjshiri Traditional Domesticate (Landrace)".
  • Only on RSC. The notes on the photographs (from November 2024).

Photographs

The infobox image and the gallery image are from the RSC listing, uploaded under fair use at reduced resolution. The listing says that its photographs of plants in the vegetative stage show plants from this accession at 40° N in mid-July, and that its shots of buds are from a customer growing outdoors in North America after a few days of drying; the captions follow it. Of its three photographs of young plants, one is used; of its two of buds, one. The people at the edges of the pictures are not identified and their faces are out of frame.

USDA genebank accession

The U.S. National Plant Germplasm System holds Panjshir seed as G 33752 (GRIN-Global entry), received on 22 August 2023 in a donation from Angus. The infobox lists it as the same lot as this accession:

  • the entry is named Panjshir, is dated collected before 2023 in Afghanistan, and its point lies in Panjshir Province;
  • every archived version of the listing, from March 2023 to April 2026, sells the same 2022 lot, and RSC lists no other.

The entry carries notes from the unit's 2024 field trial in New York; the article does not report them.
