Thai prime minister says cannabis rules will be tightened and tougher penalties proposed after the Office of the Narcotics Control Board meeting
Bernama reported that Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul said proposed amendments to the Narcotics Act concerning cannabis were discussed at the third meeting of the Office of the Narcotics Control Board this year, held on Thursday 22 October. He said the government would keep a clear distinction between medical and recreational use. He also said he had instructed the Customs Department to step up inspections and checks to prevent illegal exports, and that exports of cannabis stems, leaves and flower buds must comply with Thai law while CBD extracts could be exported subject to licensing.
