Immigration police seize five tonnes of cannabis buds at a rented house in Bang Khen, Bangkok, and arrest five

The Bangkok Post reported that immigration police raided a house on Khu Bon 27 Road in Bang Khen district, Bangkok, on Monday 19 October after a year-long investigation prompted by neighbours' complaints about a strong cannabis smell. Police said they found five tonnes of cannabis buds and arrested a Vietnamese man and four Myanmar workers, who were paid 200 to 300 baht a day to sort and pack the buds. An official of the Department of Thai Traditional and Alternative Medicine said the group held a licence for cannabis bud processing in Nong Bua Lam Phu province, but that their business in Bangkok was illegal.
