Phuket reports 1,065 cannabis shops after 35 licences are revoked and 112 suspended
The Thaiger reported figures presented to the sixth meeting of the Joint Public-Private Sector Committee for Solving Economic Problems in Phuket for the 2026 fiscal year, chaired by the provincial governor, Chotinrin Kerdsum, at Phuket Provincial Hall. According to those figures officials had revoked 35 cannabis licences and suspended 112, and as of 28 August the province had 1,065 cannabis shops, down from a previous figure of 1,089. The meeting data separately listed 11 shops under suspension and 13 notified of suspension orders, and the report states it was not clear whether those were counted within the 112. The Phuket Provincial Public Health Office reported 17 shops for alleged breaches of sections 46 or 52 of the Protection and Promotion of Thai Traditional Medicine Wisdom Act 1999 and 23 shops for alleged breaches of section 6(10) of the Food Act 1979.
