Algerian customs seize 96.3 kg of cannabis resin in three operations in Chlef

The communication unit of the Directorate General of Customs announced on 9 September 2026 that the Chlef mobile customs brigade, working with units of the People's National Army and the National Gendarmerie, had seized 96 kg and 300 g of kif traité in three separate operations across Chlef wilaya. According to the communiqué the first operation recovered 50 kg concealed inside the doors of a passenger car and led to three arrests, the second recovered 28.5 kg hidden in the front door cavities and the spare wheel housing of a car and led to one arrest, while the third recovered 17.8 kg and led to four arrests. The eight people detained were handed with the seized goods to the competent judicial authorities. The communiqué does not state an origin for the consignments.
