Army detachments in the 3rd Military Region seize 1,660 kg of treated kif and kill one trafficker

The Algerian Ministry of National Defence reported on 4 October 2026 that combined detachments of the People's National Army in the 3rd Military Region at Béchar foiled two attempts to bring a large quantity of drugs into Algeria during a search operation on 1 and 2 October. According to the ministry, the operation led to the death of one trafficker and the seizure of 1,660 kg of treated kif and three pairs of binoculars. The communiqué does not say where the consignment came from or where in the military region the operation took place.
