Algerian army reports intercepting 329 kg of cannabis resin from the Moroccan border in a week
The Ministry of National Defence reported on 9 September 2026 that units and detachments of the People's National Army had continued operations across several regions of the country between 2 and 8 September 2026 and, with other security services, had intercepted 35 drug traffickers and defeated attempts to bring in 3 quintals and 29 kilograms of kif traité, about 329 kg, from the borders with Morocco. The same communiqué records the seizure of 210,986 psychotropic tablets over the period, and reports the surrender of an armed man to military authorities at Bordj Badji Mokhtar together with the arrest of seven people described as support elements for terrorist groups. This bulletin is a national weekly aggregate spanning several military regions rather than a single operation, and it does not name individual seizure sites.
