Algiers police seize 130 kg of kif traite and arrest four at Maghnia and Algiers

Horizons reported on 8 September 2026, citing a communiqué from the communication unit of the Direction générale de la Sûreté nationale, that the Algiers wilaya security services had seized 1 quintal and 30 kilograms of kif traité, that is about 130 kg, and had dismantled an organised network with international ramifications whose activity the police said began in Morocco. According to the communiqué the third judicial police district of El Biar intercepted a first consignment aboard a utility vehicle on the outskirts of Algiers, destined for one of the eastern wilayas, and investigators then found further quantities of narcotics at the suspects' homes in Algiers. Four people were arrested at Maghnia and at Algiers, and three vehicles and a motorcycle said to have been used by the network were recovered.
