Kibungan police seize ₱10.3M worth of dried marijuana at Poblacion checkpoint, Benguet

Kibungan Municipal Police Station, under Acting Chief of Police PCpt Arnel Abellera, seized 86 kilograms of dried cannabis in tubular form at an early-morning checkpoint in Barangay Poblacion, Kibungan, Benguet on 6 October 2025. Police reported the seized material at a standard drug price of ₱10.32 million. A white Mitsubishi Strada pickup stopped approximately 100 metres from the checkpoint; its two occupants abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot before officers could reach them. No arrests were made. Kibungan Mayor Agustin Tello, a retired police colonel, commended the station for maintaining checkpoint operations in the early hours of the morning. PNP Acting Chief Police Lieutenant General Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. and PNP Spokesperson Police Brigadier General Randulf Tuaño issued separate statements framing the seizure as part of the PNP's sustained posture against cannabis trafficking in Benguet and the wider Cordillera.
